Opportunity mapping of medical smartphone service
Client: Karolinska Institutet Innovations & CORAI Medicinteknik AB
Team: Helena Borgstrand, Himanshu Rohilla, Hyonie Kim
Designed while employed at Zenit Design
Challenge
The successful launch of a new medical service depends not just on clinical efficacy, but on how well it integrates into existing systems and meets user needs. The client faced the challenge of articulating their value proposition clearly to diverse stakeholders, while ensuring that the service experience would be trusted, intuitive, and aligned with the realities of healthcare delivery in Sweden.
Goal
Supporting the market introduction of an innovative healthcare service through strategic design
Approach
We began with a stakeholder workshop that brought together the client, healthcare experts, and other key actors. This session helped us define the core service ecosystem and identify stakeholder groups. We followed this with exploratory interviews with doctors, nurses, caregivers, and patients. These conversations highlighted pain points such as access and reach of healthcare to those in need of it, time constraints in clinical settings, and the emotional weight patients carry when navigating cardiac diagnoses. Using these insights, we service scenarios and a detailed future user journey that captured both the functional and emotional aspects of interacting with the service.

The materials helped CORAI in investor discussions and gave the client confidence and clarity as they prepared for further implementation.
